Rome Prize Fellows

Rome Prize winners are selected annually by independent juries of distinguished artists and scholars through a national competition. These highly competitive fellowships support advanced independent work and research in the arts and humanities.

Italian Fellows

Italian Fellows live and work in the Academy community, pursuing their own projects participating in its collaborative, interdisciplinary environment and helping make connections between Rome Prize Fellows and their Italian peers.

Residents

The American Academy in Rome invites distinguished artists and scholars from around the world to reside at the Academy for periods generally ranging from one to three months.

Affiliated Fellows

The Academy hosts recipients of fellowships awarded by educational and cultural organizations around the world, including the Council of American Overseas Research Centers, the Terra Foundation for American Art, and the University of Tennessee.

This program provides artists and scholars of all nationalities the opportunity to experience the intellectual and artistic freedom, interdisciplinary exchange, and innovation that characterizes life at the American Academy in Rome.

Juries

Nine juries, representing a broad cross-section of excellence in the various disciplines are appointed annually to judge the candidate pool.
